Nerdy Agent Peach Releases the Gods of Japan's Universe!
At last weekend's Anime Weekend Atlanta, ADV announced the rights to Moeyo Ken TV, Coyote Ragtime Show, and UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie seasons 3 & 4. ADV also opened its AD Universe store, which offers a selection of dubbed anime episodes for commercial download. The videos are only compatible with Windows, and are currently not supported by Linux, Mac OS, or portable media players.
At Anime Weekend Atlanta, FUNimation announced its acquisition of Peach Girl. The first volume of the 25-episode series is sheduled for American release in February 2007.
Moon Phase reports that a new Agent Aika series has been announced via the official series homepage. The first volume is slated for a spring 2007 release.
The official Genshiken homepage announced that a new, three-episode Genshiken OVA series is in the works. The first episode is slated for Japanese DVD on December 22, 2006. No plot details have been announced yet.
Softbank announced that its cell phone-based game Keitai Shoujo will receive an animated adaptation. The series will hit Japanese television in 2007.
Capcom announced that the company will partner with WOWOW and Madhouse to produce an anime series based on the Devil May Cry series of video games. The series will run for 12 episodes, with the first episode premiering in spring of 2007.
Comptiq Magazine announced that Yoshimizu Kagami's Lucky Star will receive an anime adaptation in 2007. Lucky Star is a 4-panel manga series that was licensed by ComicsOne until the company closed down in 2005.
Anime News Service reports that the 25th episode of Inukami includes an announcement for a motion picture based on the series. No details on the film have been released.
Gonzo Digimation will provide an animated segment for an upcoming documentary based on Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. The documentary, titled Daremo Shiranai Koizumi Junichiro no Shoutai (Everyone, Become Aquainted With Koizumi Junichiro's True Colors), will premiere on October 8, and will recap highlights of the Prime Minister's five-year term.
VIZ Media announced several new manga acquisitions over the weekend. Train Man: Densha Otoko, Hayate the Combat Butler, R.O.D: Read or Dream, O-Parts Hunter, The Cain Saga, La Corda d'Oro, Punch!, Tail of the Moon, and Reborn! will be joining the company's manga lineup through Fall and Winter of 2006.
